Family things to do in San Antonio
San Antonio is a little piece of Texas that shines with its own light, belongs to the county of Bexar and has many activities for children and adults.
I start writing about my visit to San Antonio and I can not wait to return. This city is one of those that I can affirm that it has a human face and personality; If I could personify it, I would say that San Antonio hugs every visitor that arrives.
I visited it over the weekend in April and there was a spectacular climate in this city that limits with the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, a country that has a lot of influence, through its culture, gastronomy, music, people, and language.
It is worth remembering that this little piece of Texas (just over 1200 km2) belonged to Mexico, before the war of Texan independence. Part of the history of this cozy place is told by the main icon: the Alamo, probably one of the most famous names in Texas.
Things to do in downtown San Antonio
1️⃣ The Alamo
The Alamo keeps a colonial legacy, was established by the Spanish in 1718, as a church. By 1836, this was the center of the Texas revolution for independence from Mexico, in a battle that took 13 days. Currently, it is mandatory in the visit to San Antonio to stop and take a picture with its facade behind our backs and discover the interior of this icon (free entry).
The Riverwalk is the second essential stop that is full of energy. We had lunch in one of the restaurants that are on the banks of the San Antonio River. It was wonderful because right next to us were the boats with tourists who decided to take the Riverwalk Boat Tour, where you can have a different point of view of the city.
You can also walk or ride a bicycle around the Riverwalk, and pass near El Alamo, the Arneson River Theater, the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Tower Life Building.
